Tesla Model Y Juniper TPE Door Sill Protectors FAQ
1. Why should I install door sill protectors? What’s wrong with the factory sills?
The refreshed Model Y Juniper comes with carpeted (felt-like) door sills. While they look clean at first, they easily trap dust, dirt, and moisture. Mud and stains can soak in and are hard to fully clean. Over time, frequent foot traffic also causes fraying and wear.
Adding TPE door sill protectors fully covers these areas, making them waterproof, easy to wipe clean, and much more durable—while also giving your interior a more finished look.
2. What materials are available, and which one is better?
Common options on the market include carbon-look ABS, stainless steel, and TPE. This set uses high-quality TPE (thermoplastic elastomer), which stands out because it’s:
- Odor-free and more eco-friendly
- Flexible and weather-resistant
- Slip-resistant and highly durable
- Better suited for hook-and-loop attachment, ensuring a clean, edge-to-edge fit
3. Is installation complicated? Do I need any tools?
Not at all. No tools required. The hook-and-loop (Velcro-style) design lets you easily align and adjust before pressing it into place. It’s very forgiving, so you can reposition it if needed and get a perfect fit.
4. Will installing these damage my car or affect warranty?
No. Installation is completely non-destructive. The hook-and-loop system doesn’t leave adhesive residue or damage the original carpeted surface. It won’t affect your Tesla warranty in any way.
5. Will these interfere with the door closing?
No. These are precision-molded specifically for the Model Y Juniper. The thickness is carefully designed so everything sits flush with the factory sill. There’s no interference with the door, and no added pressure on the seals.
